Thoughts on Reading

"These bookstores are like temples. Some have even been churches. A place to get in touch with your higher self and nourish your soul. There's something about being in a bookstore that makes you feel infinite, like you can touch the magic. And when I look at it that way, it doesn't make me so anxious." - Max Joseph, "BOOKSTORES: How to Read More Books in the Golden Age of Content"

Music to Help with Reading

"Dozens of studies by psychologists, neurobiologists, educators, and Web designers point to the same conclusion: when we go online, we enter an environment that promotes cursory reading, hurried and distracted thinking, and superficial learning. It's possible to think deeply while surfing the Net, just as it's possible to think shallowly while reading a book, but that's not the type of thinking the technology encourages and rewards." - Nicholas Carr, The Shallows

Reading is hard enough with the Internet around! Use all tools at your disposal to immerse yourself into subtle activities like reading. Below are a few samples of my favorite music I use to read more often and for longer. Enjoy listening to them here on this site or in the YouTube video player, where you can potentially save them to your account for later.
