Nonviolent Communication

Nonviolent Communication

One goal of practicing the method of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is to reach emotional liberation. Emotional liberation is defined as:

  1. I have a trained response to respond to the Needs of others out of Compassion and never out of Fear, Guilt, or Shame.
  2. I am responsible for both my own Intentions and Actions, but not the Emotions of others.
  3. I have Awareness that I can never meet my own Needs at the expense of others. I must work together with others to meet both of our needs.
  4. I have sufficient skill in Communication, probably Nonviolent Communication, to state my Needs in a way that others find clear and in a way that communicates that I am equally concerned with fulfilling my needs as well as others.
